There are detective shooters, detective showdowns, 'black detectives', mystical ones... The list can go on for a long time, but the main thing that unites them is that they are beyond a specific place and time of action - abroad, in space, in some dimension, or in a fairy-tale, invented country... Paradoxically, Vladimir Cherkina's detectives, mostly taking place in his native Saratov land, on the one hand, have a quite ordinary setting, and on the other hand, combine the features of many detectives, where criminals and victims (and their surroundings) act unpredictably and completely unexpectedly for the reader. Deliberately calm, detached narrative, solid, realistically verified details, familiar speech, human characters, the everyday work of a police officer - all this creates an unconscious sense of trust in the description of what is happening on the pages of the book. And there comes an understanding that this is the very ordinary human life that can, at any moment (despite its external simplicity), outshine any storyteller. It is truly difficult to tear oneself away from Vladimir Cherkina's lines! For readers who appreciate good domestic detective stories.
