The Museum of New Western Art was established in Moscow in 1928 on the basis of private collections of the two Moscow industrialists Sergey Ivanovich Shchukin and Ivan Abramovich Morozov. Possessing an amazing courage and intuition, they gathered a first-class collection of French painting of the end of the XIX - the beginning of the 20th century, from the aispically-ephemeral impressionism to rational cubism, which appeals over 500 works. Unfortunately, in 1948, the museum was disbanded, and the masterpieces are divided between the State Museum of Fine Arts named after A.S. Pushkin and the State Hermitage.
This album provides an opportunity to see how the exposition of the museum, which brought the stories of hobbies of two original and talented collectors of world importance, to get acquainted with the history of the creation of Morozov collections and Schukin, for whom the work of the works of art was the matter of their life.
