For nearly two centuries, this poetic fairy tale has entertained readers and teaches that courage, honesty, and hard work will help a person find their happiness. The peasant's son Ivan is not a hero or a handsome man, but simple, kind, and responsible. He received the gift of Humpbacked Horse, who became his faithful companion. With his help, Ivan, after joining the royal stables, obtained the Firebird as ordered by the tsar, brought the ring of the Tsar Maiden, and then the maiden herself. Wanting to marry the Tsar Maiden, the old tsar agreed to bathe in boiling water to become young. He decided to test this method on Ivan. And once again, the magical Humpbacked Horse saved his master. Ivan emerged from the cauldron as a handsome man, while the tsar, inspired by his example, jumped into the cauldron and, alas, boiled to death. The peasant's son married the Tsar Maiden. The beauty and the entire kingdom passed to the simple Ivan, while the envious schemers were left with nothing. The light verse, sharp expressions, and fairy-tale plot will appeal not only to children but also to adults. After all, who among them didn't dream in childhood of having a friend like the Humpbacked Horse?!
