The text of the biography and letters is printed according to the edition: [Agapit (Belovidov), Archimandrite]. The first great elder Optina Hieromonk Leonid (in schema Lev). - 2nd ed. - Shamordino Kaluga province: Kozelsk Vvedenskaya Optina Monastery, 1917. In preparing the publication, the editorial team preserved the features of the author's style, clarified abbreviations, and adjusted spelling and punctuation in accordance with the norms of modern Russian language. Brief notes were added to explain the meaning of obsolete words and expressions. The book design includes images from the archive of the Vvedensky stavropegic male monastery Optina Monastery, the collections of the Russian State Library, the Russian State Historical Archive, the Institute of Russian Literature (Pushkin House) of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and the Church-Archaeological Cabinet of the Moscow Theological Academy. Recommended for publication by the Publishing Council of the Russian Orthodox Church.
