The book is dedicated to the almost forgotten saint - venerable Herodion of Iloezersk, who lived in Belozerye in the first half of the 16th century: his fate, his veneration by the local residents in the 17th-19th centuries, the history of the compilation and existence of his Life and the desert that was founded by the saint's devotees in the place of his exploits. The book includes texts of all editions of the Life, a unique text "Investigation of Miracles" compiled on the eve of the canonization of venerable Herodion in the mid-17th century, and a detailed historical and philological commentary.
