The life of Rev. Sergius, compiled by Archbishop Nikon (Christmas, 1851-1918), is an outstanding monument of Russian aiographic literature of the XIX century. Written 130 years ago, it still remains the most readable work dedicated to the Great Russian Holy.
This publication of life is published in the year of the celebration of the 700th anniversary of the birth of Rev. Sergius and prepared in the Trinity-Sergius Lavra. The text of the live and notes to it by Archbishop Nikon is reproduced by the previous edition, which appeared in 2003 in the Troitskaya Library series and then repeatedly reprinted. For the current, anniversary, publication, the scientific apparatus of the book is fundamentally reworked: the editorial comments on the author"s text are significantly expanded, and indexed pointers of personal names and geographical names and the list used in the preparation of the publication of literature.
Anniversary publication is illustrated by the works of the artist T.V. Kiselie, specially prepared for him in 2012-2014. On the front-line and binding icons of the T.V. Kiselieva - "Rev. Sergius Radonezh" and "Wonderful Vision of Birds"
