This book substantiates the need to create a comprehensive norm (convention) covering, to the extent possible, all modern norms of existing conventions and recommendations for labor in relation to professional athletes, as well as additionally containing provisions that take into account the specifics of professional sports activities and meet the requirements of modern standards for compliance with decent working conditions and leisure of these employees.
The monograph represented by the reader consists of two parts. Chapter 1 is devoted to a comparative legal study of foreign experience in regulating the sports and labor relations of professional athletes. The author reveals the concept of a professional athlete in foreign legislation and analyzes the norms of labor legislation and legislation on sports in relation to the sports and labor relations of professional athletes. Chapter 2 Contains the rationale for the concept of an international labor standard in professional sports, including the project of the proposed ILO Convention "about the worthy work of professional athletes and the guarantees of their social protection.
