More often than not, his rebellion is knowingly doomed, yet he continues the fight - and it doesn't matter what the outcome will be, even if death turns into a kind of triumph of poetic justice. Lermontov's early works are in many ways naive and influenced by Byron and Pushkin, but they already clearly show the extraordinary talent of the young poet, and what is even more interesting, a definite circle of themes that will become fundamental for Lermontov throughout his short life.
