Before you is a unique edition. The authors and editors of this collection set themselves an ambitious task - to show the dynamics of relations between Russia and Serbia over the past ten years, and they are confident that these ten years have been the "best period in Russian-Serbian relations." The statement is bold, but not unfounded - the collection includes materials on the economic relations of the two countries, cultural cooperation, preservation of historical memory, and of course, politics, as everything in the Balkans is subject to politics. The basis of the collection is materials from the information-analytical portal "Balkanist," supplemented with articles by favorite authors of the portal for the period 2013-2018, when Balkan studies in Russia existed, but "Balkanist" did not yet. The readers are offered materials by the head of the Center for Black Sea and Mediterranean Studies at the Institute of Europe of the Russian Academy of Sciences, E.G. Entina, senior researcher at the Institute of Slavic Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, N.V. Bondarev, professor at MGIMO Y.V. Vishnyakov, professor at the University of Belgrade Irina Antanasijevic, founder of "Balkanist" political scientist O.V. Bondarenko, journalists V. Charsky, E. Lane, K. Borshev, Yu. Kovalchuk, writer P. Besedin. The real highlight of the book is the memories of people who found themselves in the Balkans at critical moments in history, from the director of the Russian House in Belgrade E. Baranov to K. Yakovlev. The book concludes with O.V. Bondarenko's story "The Last Day of the Montenegrin Dictator," which turned out to be prophetic in many ways. The book is recommended for anyone interested in the history of the Balkans and Russian-Serbian relations.
