This is a story about twenty-five residential Moscow houses built from the 17th century to the 1920s. Each chapter is devoted to one house and consists of a historical excursion and memoirs of residents, accompanied by archival documents, old and new photos of the house. For several years, the author of the texts Dmitry Oparin and photographer Anton Akimov led the heading about historical houses in the magazine Big City. When the heading ended, they continued to collect the memories of the inhabitants, look for old photos and archival documents, make their way to attics and black stairs, photograph the preserved parquet and stucco stucco painted in several layers. The result was this book
