Nikolai Gavrilovich Chernyshevsky (1828-1889) was a Russian philosopher-materialist of the 19th century, a revolutionary democrat, a theorist of critical utopian socialism, a scientist, encyclopedist, literary critic, publicist, and writer.
"Damage of Recklessness" is a series of concise, witty, and poignant stories in which the author, hiding behind the figures of other narrators, contrasts "old" and "new" people and asserts a strange, in the eyes of the common man, but free from hypocritical conventions, new morality. The themes touched upon by Chernyshevsky in his prose remain relevant in the 21st century and will be of interest to a wide range of readers.
