In his book, the English orientalist Henry Saggs most fully to date presents the history of Babylon and Assyria from the end of the 4th to the beginning of the 3rd millennium BC. He analyzes the political structure of Mesopotamia, talks about the social and cultural life of society, especially in detail touching on such aspects of it (like economy or management), which are rarely mentioned in other historical literature. Great attention is paid to religion, which played a huge role in ancient times, and literature as a reflection of the world order. The book presents the Mesopotamian chronology in the systematization of known world scholars.
