The book describes the background of the neoliberal revolution - the activity of supporters of the free market on both sides of the Atlantic in the 1930s, during the Great Depression. The author explores how the ideas were gradually crystallized - both meaningfully, and, importantly, rhetorically, justifying the advantages of a free market. This is the story of people and ideas (as well as various organizations that ensured the communication of neoliberals in Europe and America, the publication of their books, performance with lectures, etc., and charitable foundations that financed these organizations and events).
The book has two main characters who are dedicated to individual chapters: F. Hayek and M. Friedman. In the wake of the popularity that Hayek gained in the United States after the release of the Road to slavery, he managed to create an organization uniting the US Neoliberals and Europe - the Mon -Pelery Society. Having got to the first meetings of this organization, a young economist from the University of Chicago, Milton Friedman, firstly changed his views, becoming a convinced supporter of the free market, and secondly, caught fire to the idea of spreading these ideas among the general public
