Ilya Ilf (Ilya Arnoldovich Finezilberg, 1897 - 1937) and Evgeny Petrov (Evgeny Petrovich Kataev, 1903 - 1942), which realizing that the potential content of the image of a cunning rogue Osta Bender was not exhausted in the "Twelve chairs", took up the creation of the Golden Calf novel . Sprumb humor, ingenuity in creating unexpected comic situations, light spoken language and other aesthetic advantages of the dilogy will not leave any other reader indifferent.
To compose together was not twice as much easier, as it could seem as a result of simple arithmetic addition, and ten times harder. It was not a simple addition of forces, but a continuous struggle of the two forces. The struggle is exhausting and at the same time fruitful. We gave each other all our life experience, our literary taste, the whole stock of thoughts and observations. But gave out with the struggle. In this struggle, life experience was questioned. Literary taste sometimes got ridiculous ... Over time, we increasingly began to catch ourselves on the fact that we pronounce the same word at the same time ... So we developed a single literary style and a single literary taste. It was a complete spiritual merger.
