A.P. Serebrovsky, a versatile engineer and organizer of the oil and gold-platinum industry in the Soviet Union, was an incorrigible romantic. This book is about the development of Soviet gold mining, starting from the late 1920s, after the confusion and gray schemes of the concession period of the New Economic Policy. It is written by a man of action who is not only convinced of the need to change the economic scheme but also puts maximum effort into it. Serebrovsky is a romantic of labor, of life in the taiga and gold fields, which dynamically changes and becomes interesting to us on the pages of the book. The author sincerely laments that "we will find almost nothing in our literature, not even hints of true romanticism, of the exploits of scouts, of the heroic work of miners, work associated with adventures, with life in new, unexplored places," and he himself wrote a book that not only sums up the interim results in the development of the "golden" industry but also tells exactly about this.
