The first battles of the volunteer army

The book "The First Battles of the Volunteer Army" is the second volume in a series dedicated to the White movement in Russia, and introduces readers to the memoirs of participants in the events in the Don and Kuban regions at the end of 1917 and the beginning of 1918. The book presents testimonies not only from the leaders of the anti-communist struggle but also from its ordinary participants, allowing a vivid portrayal of the situation and atmosphere of that time, the psychology and spiritual essence of the first volunteers. With few exceptions, the materials included in the volume have never been published in Russia, and those published abroad are bibliographic rarities. The volume is accompanied by an introduction and extensive commentary, including several hundred biographical notes on the authors and heroes of the essays being published for the first time.
