The authors of the collection "The Fire Shield of Moscow" were responsible for the quality and effective air defense during the Great Patriotic War at various levels of responsibility. D. Zhuravlev commanded air defense units, while A. Golubev was responsible for the unit entrusted to him in the air defense military unit. Both achieved the pinnacle of professionalism by fulfilling their assigned tasks. Each managed to organize combat work at the level of the military collective, creating an atmosphere of belief in Victory and the importance of each soldier at their combat post near an artillery or anti-aircraft gun, searchlight, balloon, or at the controls of a fighter aircraft. The memories of the combat officers include events, names, and vivid episodes that have remained in memory. However, each page tells how to work with equipment, personnel, headquarters, and the rear to accomplish the assigned tasks, among which the main one is ensuring the sky is free of threats for the Red Army soldiers and Soviet citizens.
