Alexey Petrovich Lebedev (1845-1908) - an outstanding Russian historian of the Church, the author of numerous works on the history of the ancient Church, the Universal Cathedrals, on the history of the Church of the Byzantine and Post, Byzantine periods, Honored Professor of the Imperial Moskovskaya Academy and Professor of the Moscow University, the founder of his own scientific Schools, brilliant lecturer and teacher. One of his first works, "era of persecution of Christians ...", has not yet lost its scientific significance. On a strictly actual material, with the involvement of martyrs of the first centuries of Christian history, a living and clear language, the author tells and shows the story of all the main persecution of Christians from the pagan Roman emperors, as well as the final celebration of Christianity under the emperor Konstantin Great.
