'The English Patient' is a story that has received major book awards. The novel won the Booker Prize in 1992. In 2018, 'The English Patient' was awarded the special 'Golden Booker' prize, which was timed to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the Booker Prize. It is awarded based on the results of a readers' vote, who considered this book the best novel from the Booker list over 50 years. He lost her when she became everything in his life. Now all that remains of him is a frail body, lying on a hospital bed in a ruined Italian villa. Nurse Hana voluntarily cares for her 'English patient'. She sees in him the familiar life that was taken away by World War II. His condition worsens, memory fades, slipping away like sand through fingers. But he smiles, for with each day he becomes closer to his Catherine.
