This edition features two monuments of Russian literature - 'Domostroy' and 'The Honest Mirror of Youth', two of the most famous etiquette and domestic texts containing advice for all occasions in life: how relationships between parents and children should be, how to behave in church, how to entertain guests, how to conduct oneself at the table, how to treat servants, and so on. These textbooks of worldly wisdom invariably arouse reader interest. 'Domostroy', created in the 16th century, became a symbol of old Muscovy, while 'The Honest Mirror of Youth' (18th century) depicts the social and domestic life of a person in the new, Petrine Russia. They complement each other, tracing the historical path of Russia and shedding light on the experience of past centuries.
