The collection is published by A.P. Chekhov"s stories of 1882-1887. In them, the writer addresses the theme traditional for Russian literature. Perhaps it would be more correct to call this collection of "death to officials": in contrast to its predecessors (Gogol, Saltykov-Shchedrin, Sukhovo-Koblin), Chekhov denounced not the strong world of this, but a "little man", over the measures of learning in his opera
