"The Crisis of European Sciences and Transcendental Phenomenology" is the last major work of Edmund Husserl, which remained unfinished. The manuscript is dated to the years 1935-1936, but Husserl worked on the problem area of the "Crisis" from 1934 to 1937. This is the first of Husserl's published works dedicated to the history of science and the historicity of philosophy. At the center of the work is the question: how could it happen that despite the magnificent development of new sciences, they could still reach a crisis, which simultaneously marks the crisis of the European human? In search of an answer, Husserl meticulously traces the emergence of New Time science from Galileo, refers to Descartes, Locke, Berkeley, Hume, and Kant. The main task of this work is to show how the sciences, taking the place of philosophy, invariably turn out to be inadequate, as their semantic foundation is hidden from themselves, and their claim to totality in explaining the existing disappears. 2nd edition, corrected.
