The analytical review examines the ways and means of creating perceptions of migration and migrants in contemporary Russian language and the Russian-speaking community. Data from other European languages - English, German, and French - are drawn upon for comparison. The main object of study are linguistic means - lexical units, their combinability, and typical contexts of use, forming an evaluative attitude towards the phenomenon of migration and its participants. Some visual codes of culture (films, images, and photographs in mass media, video clips) are also analyzed, which helps to characterize the concept as polymodal and integrated into the culture of linguistic communities.
