The philosophical and economic ideas of Karl Marx (1818-1883) and Friedrich Engels (1820-1895) played a huge role in the life of the whole world and our country in particular. The 'Manifesto of the Communist Party' (1848) was written by scholars on behalf of the society 'League of the Just' and laid the foundation for the formation of the influential international communist movement. The collection also includes other works from the second half of the 1840s. 'The Poverty of Philosophy' by Karl Marx is an ironic response to the extremely popular book by Pierre-Joseph Proudhon 'The System of Economic Contradictions, or The Philosophy of Poverty' (1846). Marx analyzes all the flaws of this work: Proudhon turns out to not be the strongest economist, and he clearly has issues with mathematics. Marx extensively quotes the author being critiqued, making it easy and interesting to follow the polemic. A very interesting example of the ideological approach to literary criticism is Engels' article 'German Socialism in Verse and Prose', and in his work 'Principles of Communism', the basic theses of the new party are perhaps formulated for the first time. The book will be of interest to all readers interested in the development of economic and political ideas in the world.
