The notes of V.N. Efremov were written by the author in the late 1920s while in emigration immediately after the events described and are currently stored in the archive of the Association of the Leib-Guard Cossack Regiment in Paris. The memoirs tell the story of the author's escape to China from Bolshevik Russia. It details the retreat of the White Army units to China after their defeat in the Civil War and the subsequent fate of the refugees. Efremov's notes are unique in that they are practically the only known memoir document of the era that tells about the struggle on the distant outskirts of Russia - in the Semirechensk region (now Southeast Kazakhstan) - from the White Army's perspective. The collection includes a work by the contemporary researcher of the Civil War in Russia, Vadim Alexeevich Goltsev. His latest work, "Colonel Sidorov's Endgame in Kuldja," tells the story of the immediate commander of Sotnik Efremov - Colonel P.I. Sidorov, who even attempted to fight against the established communist power in Russia by emigrating to China. The book is based on the memoirs of contemporaries and archival documents, and is supplemented with photographs and illustrations.
