Brothers Chernetsov - Grigory and Nikanor - representatives of the Russian landscape art of the first half of the XIX century. They graduated from the Academy of Arts, became academics. They were the contemporaries of Pushkin, and the picture of Nicanor, the younger of the brothers, the "Darialya Gorge", hung in the poet"s house. They traveled a lot, wrote the nature of different countries, but they tried to repel the beauty of Russian land as they had their strength.
