1982. Soviet scientists are developing a cutting-edge flamethrower system. Western intelligence agencies manage to recruit one of the project participants - scientist Alexey Poplavsky. The KGB becomes aware of this. Sensing the danger, the traitor leaves for a symposium in West Germany and stays abroad. A group led by Major Mikhail Koltsov is sent to search for the fugitive. Suddenly, it turns out that the safe houses on the other side are compromised. The operatives find themselves in a tough situation, and the only way to successfully complete the mission is through an unconventional solution...
