Dostoevsky considered the novel "The Brothers Karamazov" to be the most important in his work, but he did not have time to write its continuation. Therefore, it is not surprising that the analysis of the events in this work with a detective plot, of which we only know half, indicates that Pavel Smerdyakov did not commit the crimes and is not guilty of his father's death. But then, following the quite legitimate question, "Who killed old man Karamazov?" - the main question arises, the answer to which reveals the religious-philosophical idea laid down by the great Russian writer in his most important work: "What made the innocent Pavel Smerdyakov commit suicide and thus destroy his immortal soul?" There is only one way to find the answer to this complex question - to look at the events described in the novel through Pavel's eyes and understand who pushed him to commit a great sin.
