The Book of Enoch is considered one of the most significant apocrypha of the Old Testament. Until the 18th century, this text, presumably written between the 3rd and 1st centuries BC, was unknown in Europe. It was discovered as part of the Ethiopian Bible, where it is considered canonical. In his book, the Old Testament patriarch Enoch, the great-grandfather of Noah, told of his journey to heaven, his visions, and prophecies. He is revered as the founder of writing. And, according to the prophecy, he will return to earth in the times of the Antichrist. The book is presented in the translation by Archpriest Alexander Vasilyevich Smirnov, made in 1888.
