This is the next issue of the art history conceived by the State Institute of the series "Sociology and the economy of art: scientific heritage." The sociological studies of art originated at the very end of the 19th century had a short but rich history in Russia. In the 1930s, they were banned for ideological reasons, over time they were forgotten and their traces were gradually lost. Perennial searches in periodicals and various editions of the late XIX - the first half of the 20th century made it possible to identify these valuable materials for science.
