The book by architecture historians Elena Ovsyannikova and Nikolay Vasilyev is dedicated to a residential complex widely known as the Narkomfin Building, notable for its architectural design. Today, thanks to the reconstruction carried out in 2016-2020, it has been given a second life. The authors discuss the original project and the construction challenges of the complex using the latest technologies of that time. They bring in a range of new archival materials and showcase the broad professional context in which the Narkomfin Building existed, including constructions in various cities of the USSR, as well as international, primarily European, experiences. A separate chapter of the book is dedicated to the restoration of this unique object.
