The book discusses religion, the riches of Arabic literature and art, the peculiarities of everyday life and holidays, and the magical rituals of Muslims. Separate chapters are dedicated to Arab women and issues of upbringing in medieval Islamic society. The work is based on the author's personal memories, rare manuscripts of medieval Arab writers and historians such as Ibn al-Jawzi, al-Qazwini, and as-Suyuti, as well as on the tales and folk beliefs of Arabs, Persians, and Egyptians from the time of "One Thousand and One Nights."
