"The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn" is simultaneously Mark Twain's most famous and most controversial work. The novel brought in more money for the author than any of his other works, even outselling "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer." However, from the beginning, it faced scrutiny from censors who disapproved of its rough language and poor grammar. In the latter half of the twentieth century, it received renewed criticism and was banned from schools and public libraries by those who accused the author of racism.
