The author of the book Valery Trifonovich Levshenko is a doctor of physical and mathematical sciences, chief researcher at the Institute of Physics of the Earth of the Academy of Sciences, the head of the sector. In his autobiographical book, he talks about how a simple Belarusian guy from the village entered the Moscow State University, studied at the Department of Geophysics of the Faculty of Geology, and after graduating from the university he spent many years on expeditions, worked in the USA, Canada, Germany, Greece, Iran and in many regions of Russia, was engaged in the development of new methods of searching for minerals and technologies for the forecast of earthquakes, created an automated system for protecting nuclear power plants.
A series of stories, in which the author with humor describes his whole life, can be called a document of an entire era: the narrative covers the period from the death of Stalin to the present day. Valery Trifonovich was a witness to earthquakes and tsunami, worked at the nuclear power plant, felt a crisis in science in the 90s of the last century, and nevertheless continues to work in the scientific field.
