The prominent scientist and Orthodox believer E. I. Kazimirchak-Polonskaya (nun Elena, 1902-1992) describes the period of the most severe trials in her life, which occurred during the years of war and the post-war period. Elena experiences hunger, cold, bombings, separation from her mother and husband, who ended up in various concentration camps after the brutal suppression of the uprising in occupied Warsaw by the fascists. The second part of the book tells the story of Elena's repatriation with her mother and son to the Soviet Union, to the city of Kherson. The book is particularly relevant in the current times, when the proximity of serious trials awaiting Russia and the world is evident to many of us. An encouraging and inspiring example of the action of God's grace in the modern world, the synergy of human efforts and divine assistance is needed. At the end of the book, there are reminiscences of people who knew the nun Elena closely.
