The textbook in a brief presentation discusses the characteristics of the materials used in the production of steel, and the technologies for their preparation, including modern technologies for direct iron restoration. The basic concepts of the theory of metallurgical processes, such as surface phenomena and their role, the structure of liquid steel and alloys, the main reactions, and the rational organization of deoxidation and alloying, are briefly presented. The theory and technology of converter and electrostal -melting production, as well as the methods of free processing of steel, casting steel and the structure of a steel ingot, are described in detail. Particular attention is paid to solving the problems of nature protection and resource conservation, as well as new options for using metallurgical units and new waste processing technologies. The book may be useful to specialists working in areas regarding the problems of organizing and monitoring metallurgical production and resource -saving problems.
