The purpose of this manual is to give students an understanding of the function of the bass drum and hi-hat in music, help them master basic playing techniques, and coordinate footwork. The book is recommended for students who have solid skills in hand technique before starting coordination exercises on the drum set. In addition to detailed explanations of techniques and numerous foot coordination exercises, the textbook contains a wealth of useful information (pedal and bass drum positioning and tuning, counting, note reading, rhythm chanting), provides a methodology for developing steady time and groove, offers examples of practical application of acquired skills, and more. The author of the manual is a renowned musician and teacher, whose work has been highly praised by legendary drummers such as Jim Chapin, Steve Smith, Bill Bruford, Peter Magadini, René Creemers, and others. He is included in the international 'recommended drum teachers list' by Dom Famularo, published in Modern Drummer magazine.
