The child killer Slivko, the cannibal Dzhumagaliyev, the butcher Sukletin with his girlfriend Dina - the names of these serial killers were carefully hushed up, but the whole Soviet Union shuddered at the rumors of their crimes. Since the 1960s, the statistics of violent crimes in the USSR steadily increased, along with the number of those called serial killers. Anatoly Slivko killed and tortured children for twenty years, claiming that "all this was solely for filming a historical film about the fascists." Nikolai Dzhumagaliyev dismembered and ate girls, which inspired him. Alexey Sukletin preferred to feed his neighbors dishes made from the girls he killed. Alexander Spesivtsev tortured his victims for several days, and his own mother helped him dispose of the bodies. What drove them to commit crimes?
