This book gives a systematic presentation of theoretical foundations, methods and applications of one of the most important sections of the mathematical theory of management and planning-linear programming. The authors took into account the methodological comments of linear programming teachers and the experience of computing centers that used the first edition of the book in their practical activities. The presentation of methods and computational procedures is given in a substantially simplified form.
This publication is the first part of the book consisting of three parts that are simultaneously in the URSS publishing house. The numbering of the pages in all parts is through, since they are a direct continuation of each other, at the same time all three books can be considered completely independent works. Each book contains a list of used literature and an alphabetical index common to all three parts. The first part describes the practical applications of the general and special models of linear programming to the most various sectors of the economy, technology and mathematics, and the mathematical foundations of linear programming are also considered.
