We present to you the unfairly forgotten classic deck from the 18th century, named after its creator like other similar decks. The occultist Etteilla (real name - Jean-Baptiste Alliette) believed that the wisdom of Tarot was given to humanity by the ancient Egyptians, and the Tarot images themselves hold the keys to all the mysteries of the universe. It is unknown whether this is true or not, but the fact remains: Tarot made such a strong impression on Etteilla that he decided to create his own deck. It is thanks to this decision that centuries later we owe the popularization of Tarot cards. Despite this, Etteilla's Tarot deck is a system that is more than self-sufficient: the Arcana in it have unique names not found elsewhere, often not corresponding to the names and numbering of classical Tarot cards. For example, Arcanum 1 is named 'Chaos' and has meanings such as 'World' or 'Questioner' (the latter in reverse position). However, we can also observe full correspondences to classical Tarot: the card of Valta Peak (Page of Swords) has the meaning 'Spy'. Our deck is based on the illustrations of 'Etteilla's Tarot' in a book from 1840 by Giuliana Orsini. We have tried to preserve maximum authenticity and atmosphere for you and your understanding of this undoubtedly worthy classic deck.
