The collection offers magical fairy tales in which brave and resourceful heroes punish the cunning king Erokh and escape from the terrible Tit-fish, animals help good people, the golden-horned deer strikes with its hoof, and the cow Ryzhutka travels the world in search of unhappy and mistreated children to bring them to the city of happiness. The texts were recorded from the words of the Maynorsk Cossacks-Nekrasovites by F. V. Tumilevich in the 1940s-1950s and adapted for the modern reader. The fairy tales preserve certain features that emphasize the colorful speech of the storytellers, allowing one to enjoy the poetic sound of dialectal speech.
