The book explores the history of the emergence and development of symbols, as well as the evolution of ideas about this phenomenon from ancient times to the present - from symbolic cave paintings of Cro-Magnon people to the understanding of the concept of a symbol by scholars (from Heraclitus to Svasyan). It shows the role of symbols in various texts and plots taken from peoples from all continents.
