Finnish writer Timo Parvela, who worked as a school teacher for many years, wrote a deep and touching story about misunderstanding, self-discovery, and finding inner balance. The illustrations by artist Virpi Talvitie beautifully complement the story and stimulate the reader's imagination.
The story of the bear cub has been recognized with many literary awards, including the main prize in Finland's children's literature field, Finlandia Junior (2006).
"Swings" is the first book of a well-known Finnish trilogy that has become a classic in modern children's literature and has been translated into twelve languages around the world.
