A LARGE NUMBER OF AUTHOR'S PHOTOGRAPHS OF ARCHITECTURAL OBJECTS.
This work introduces readers to the architecture of Moscow's past through the example of architectural monuments that have survived numerous reconstructions of the city in the 20th century. The work is structured as a brief narrative on the development of the capital's architecture starting from the 12th century until the 1917 revolution, accompanied by an analysis of the stylistic and, if necessary, constructive features of architectural solutions characteristic of the historical periods under consideration. A large number of illustrations are presented, including photographs of architectural monuments that have survived to the present day. In total, the work examines about 750 architectural monuments in Moscow located inside the Moscow Ring Road or nearby. The overview includes all churches built before 1917, monastery buildings, the Kremlin, residential and public buildings.
The work consists of three books, each representing Moscow's architecture of a specific period. This, the first book, contains materials dedicated to the architecture of the 12th to early 18th centuries. It explores the foundation of Moscow as a city, the formation and development of Moscow architecture, and its peak in the 17th century.
