The directory reflects modern views on the pathogenesis, terminology, nomenclature, and classification, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of chronic diseases of the veins of the lower extremities and pelvis, as well as venous thromboembolic complications. Modern methods of conservative, sclerosing, and surgical treatment of chronic venous diseases are detailed, with an emphasis on endovenous technologies for eliminating pathological veno-venous reflux in incompetent major subcutaneous veins. The issues of diagnosis and treatment of pelvic vein diseases and venous thromboembolic complications are briefly discussed. An extensive evidence base has been used based on global clinical recommendations for the treatment of chronic diseases of the veins of the lower extremities, pelvis, and venous thromboembolic complications. The appendix includes assessment scales used in phlebology, templates for endovenous intervention protocols, as well as a list of modern professional societies and periodicals in phlebology.
