The leadership presents brief information on the history of the development of gastric surgery, anatomy and physiology. Modern views on etiology and pathogenesis of ulcerative disease are described, research methods, indications for the operation and the choice of its method, technique of operational interventions, features of preoperative preparation and postoperative maintenance of patients, postoperative complications, diseases of the operated stomach and repeated operations.
