"Resurrection" is the last Tolstovsky Roman, they reflected the spiritual and creative quest for the last years of the writer"s life. Started in 1889, the novel was completed and saw the light in 10 years - in 1899. In Russian printing, many scenes and even chapters were prohibited for publication. Roman "Resurrection" was among those works Tolstoy, because of which he was excited from the church. After the revolution of 1917, the situation changed dramatically: the novel, where the criticism of the clergy sounded and the referential revolutionaries were depicted, they were willing to become large in the Soviet interpretations, he almost turned into a political agitator, and the story of the resurrection of Prince Nehludov and Katyusha Maslov appeared as incredible. Today, the novel is read differently. It feels an insightful and ambiguous attitude of thick to the coming changes, and his desire to get away from any kind of trendyness, and a comprehensive and deep coverage of the Russian reality of the last third of the XIX century
