In the monograph, on the basis of a wide range of primary sources, a new interpretation of one of the most dramatic episodes of the history of European science is the beginning of the new time - the inquisition process over Galileo Galilee in 1633. The process itself and the events preceding it are considered through the prism of various contexts of the era: theological, political, sociocultural, personal psychological, scientific, patronate, rhetorical, logical, philosophical. The study performed by the author shows that the traditional interpretation of the indicated event (the Galileo case as an example of the persecution of the great scientist with church obscurantists and as an illustration of the confrontation of advanced science and church dogma) does not fully correspond to reality, and the widespread opinion is also refuted that Galileo was devoted to the court for protection for protection Theory of Copernicus.
