Zhu Shanpo (b. 1973) is a Chinese writer from the province of Guangxi, a graduate of Nanjing University. He started his literary career with poetry, later began writing prose, and has received numerous literary awards. He is the author of several novels and collections.
Typhoon is the main annual event in the small town of Dancheng ("Egg City"). This town is a small Universe living by the laws of magical realism, so unusual events happen here, such as the invasion of "humantoads", and the residents of the town are people with quirks, each of them enclosed in the shell of their own desires, aspirations, ideas about life and happiness. And they all await their Typhoon, which not only destroys but also renews...
