Korney Ivanovich Chukovsky (1882–1969) was a well-known children's writer, literary critic, translator, and journalist. The writer was always interested in how a child acquires their native language. Based on his own observations (as the writer loved to communicate with children), he created his fairy tales. "Fly-Tsokotukha," "Barmaley," "Wash 'Em Clean," "Doctor Aybolit," "Cockroach," "The Stolen Sun," and many other works included in our book are popular today among young readers and their parents. Gennady Vladimirovich Kalinovsky (1929–2006) was an illustrator, the recipient of numerous international awards. After graduating from the Surikov Art Institute in 1955, G. Kalinovsky initially drew for newspapers and magazines, but later turned to children's illustration, which brought him worldwide fame. In Chukovsky's fairy tales, there are bright colors, characters in motion, funny, simple, and sometimes scary animals. The fierce bear with red eyes of anger, the Crocodile opening its mouth in "The Stolen Sun," the fly resembling a beautiful girl in "Fly-Tsokotukha," the cheerful and small Barmaley emerging from the Crocodile's mouth. G. Kalinovsky's illustrations for Chukovsky's fairy tales are the ones that catch the eye and will surely interest the child. For children up to 3 years old.
